Ugh a new favorite band covering an all time favorite song???

The best version of blue moon ever - enjoy internet.

Rick introduced me to Cowboy Junkies when I was in Chi Town. This is the best version of Sweet Jane ever. I double dare you to disagree with me on that.

MIXES IN THE PIPELINE

I am working on some baller mixes

The first is called Dreams for  a Midsummer’s Night, it’s half summery songs, and half dreamy pop songs. It’s going to completely rule and may be the best mix I will ever make ever.

24 Songs for a 24th Birthday: This is a mix for a friend, I actually will split this mix into two because it will be a birthday gift for twin sisters.

AS of yet untitled mix for a girl far away.

The Pick Something to Listen to Test

I love music, to describe it as “the bee’s knees” would do a disservice to music, because it’s so much more. The only time I’ve been bereft of my own personal collection is when I went abroad because I wanted to experience a new country with their songs and their music, and it worked really well!

That was just some meaningless filler to get to the crux of this blog. On dates (when I have them), if I am driving my date somewhere I usually tell them to pick something to listen to from my iPod. This has never failed to prompt the question, “Is this a test?”

My answer is always no, I mean - there’s not a thing on my iPod that I wouldn’t consider listening to. I mean that’s now how I roll (my iTunes library however, that’s another story…but I’m always the selector of the makeout music should the lady find her way back to my pad). However, I think it is kind of a test! I want to see what music in my nano library catches their eye, I’m going to like whatever they pick - but what they pick tells me something about them, something about where the date might be going.

Spoiler alert: If you pick The Modern Lovers when presented with this I am probably going to get ridiculously attached to you.

I’m going to throw a mix cd exchange party

Solely because I came up with a great idea for a mix that’s not for any particular person (ie a girl I want to date)

It’s going to rule and be my most intense labor of love ever and I want to share it with everyone.

Karl Blau - Apology to Pollinateurs

Remember that Gigi song that a bunch of you liked?  Karl Blau was the vocalist on that track, and man his own stuff is so good.  So, so good.

I have been waiting over a month for the nearby record store to get this LP in.  Finally got the call over the weekend, picking it up today.  Gonna listen to dat record and cook some tasty shakshuka for friends.  Feelin’ good this Wednesday.

Ugh it’s so good. I’m feeling good this Wednesday because of this song.

Probably my favorite Modern Lovers’ song. Also one of my favorite lyrical bits, it’s so melodramatic and over the top, but so perfect.

“I go to bakeries all day long
There’s a lack of sweetness in my life
And there’s pain inside
You can see it in my eyes”

This is my favorite That Dog song, at least it is IN THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT of making this blog post

Check these ultra fresh lyrics.

“She doesn’t know how, to give herself a chance/She doesn’t know how to go home alone/She doesn’t know how, to go to asleep at night/She doesn’t know how, she doesn’t know how/She’s getting sick and tired, of feeling the same old thing/She’s getting sick and tired, of not giving up/But in her own way, she is letting go/She doesn’t know how, she doesn’t know how/She doesn’t know how, she doesn’t know how”
